About Jo

Jo is a passionate, experienced and highly qualified teacher.

Jo is a former World Youth Sailing Champion and campaigned for the Athens 2004 Olympics in single-handed sailing dinghies before a back injury forced her retirement. She was a member of the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) and the Australian Sailing Squad. Jo was also a valued and successful coach of youth sailors.


Following her sailing career she spent some years in sports media and corporate finance but found these were not her calling. She returned to a focus on the body and health. In recent years she has also focused on raising her two small children.



Jo's story


“I’ve had a bad back since I was 17 and have tried pretty much everything to keep the pain away and keep my mobility. It was my back injury that forced me to retire from sailing in the middle of the Olympic Trials. When I was in the corporate world it got to the point that I couldn’t sit on the bus to go to work because it was excruciating. Having dabbled in yoga on and off, it was at that point I tried it again and found that my back pain started to lessen and my mobility increased. Before I knew it my pain was gone and my corporate stress was less as well!! I’m a mum of two small children now and I find if I miss a few days my pain creeps in, my mobility decreases and my stress levels rise! Not only does it enable me to live day to day life comfortably but really helps me with my favourite outdoor sports and activities. I wish I’d had it when I was sailing!”
